EMDR Therapy for Lasting Transformation

You’re smart, self-aware, maybe even in therapy before – and yet something still feels stuck. That’s exactly the gap Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is designed to close.

Like you know the “why” but it hasn’t changed how you feel.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy:
An effective evidence-based approach to promote emotional healing

IMAGINE...

That your brain is a filing cabinet.

EMDR acts like a skilled organizer. It helps you revisit the memory while stimulating the brain. This can be like flipping through the files while someone helps you sort and re-file them in a more logical and accessible way.

By processing the memory in a new way, the emotional charge associated with it gets reduced, making it less disruptive in your daily life.

So, how does this actually work? I explain it all in this video below—what EMDR therapy is, how it helps, and why so many people have found lasting relief with it. Press play to learn more…

EMDR works with your brain's natural healing abilities to tackle the impact of trauma. In fact, EMDR is a powerful psychotherapy approach. It targets those "stuck" memories that keep you weighed down (and anxious) - helping your brain process them in a healthier way.

  • Reduced anxiety
  • Increased self-worth
  • Greater emotional stability
  • Enhanced coping skills
  • Healthier relationships

During EMDR sessions, you'll be guided through a series of eye movements or other bilateral stimulation techniques.

As a result, this process helps rewire your brain's response to traumatic memories, allowing you to process them in a more adaptive way while reducing their emotional charge.

Specifically, EMDR therapy is an eight-phase treatment that guides clients through a structured process designed to identify, process, and reframe traumatic memories.

1. History and Treatment Planning: We'll discuss your background and identify the issues you want to address, creating a personalized treatment plan.

2. Preparation: I'll explain EMDR and teach relaxation techniques to ensure you feel safe and supported.

3. Assessment: We'll pinpoint specific memories contributing to your anxiety, people-pleasing, or perfectionism.

4. Desensitization: Using bilateral stimulation, we'll reduce the emotional intensity of these memories.

5. Installation: We'll reinforce positive beliefs, like shifting the core belief of "I am not enough" into "I am worthy and capable."

6. Body Scan: You'll notice physical sensations to ensure any residual tension is addressed, integrating positive changes.

7. Closure: Each session ends with techniques to help you feel calm and grounded.

8. Reevaluation: We'll assess your progress and address any new issues in subsequent sessions, ensuring lasting changes.
