FAQS
Questions
Do you want to know more about what it’s like to work together? Here are some of the most common questions I get about therapy…
For standard therapy sessions, I find it most beneficial for individuals to start therapy on a weekly basis for the first few months. That way, we can gain momentum, develop our therapeutic relationship (essential to good therapeutic outcomes!), and you’ll begin to feel the benefits sooner.
Some prefer to continue on a weekly basis, and others might prefer to be seen every other week. It will depend on what’s going on in your life and what your specific needs/goals are. As we feel you’re nearing time to “graduate” therapy, we will move to meeting monthly so you will still have support and will adjust to more time in between sessions.
An EMDR intensive is a one-day or multi-day experience designed to help you move through stuck patterns or distressing memories in a focused, supportive way. Instead of weekly 50-minute sessions, we meet for several hours in a single day to allow deeper processing without interruption.
How do I know if an EMDR intensive is right for me?
Intensives can be especially helpful if:
You feel stuck, even after traditional therapy
Something recent has overwhelmed your nervous system
You want to address something specific with focused support
Weekly therapy isn’t manageable for your current schedule
We’ll talk through your goals and needs during your consultation to help decide if this approach is a good fit.

Where do we meet?
Most sessions are held virtually, which means we can meet from wherever you feel most comfortable. Whether that's curled up on your couch, sitting in your favorite chair with a cup of tea, or finding a quiet space between meetings, we'll create a space that feels safe and comfortable for you.
I work with adults virtually throughout Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, the greater Triangle, and across North Carolina. I'm also licensed to provide virtual therapy for clients in South Carolina.
If you're interested in an EMDR intensive, those can be done virtually or in person in Wilmington, North Carolina, by appointment.
And yes... if your dog or cat decides to join us during a session, there's a very good chance I'm going to ask to meet them. 😊
I'll send over intake paperwork and consent forms ahead of our first session. When we meet, we'll go deeper into your story — what's been going on, what's brought you here, and what you're hoping to work through together. No pressure to have it all figured out.
This varies from client to client. Some will start meeting their initial goals after 3-6 months and will be ready to pause or graduate from therapy. Others will take a little bit longer to see positive change - it all depends on you and your needs. It’s totally normal to feel better, pause therapy for the time being, and come back as needed.
I'm in-network with Aetna but insurance plans unfortunately don't cover EMDR intensive sessions.
For all other plans, I'm out-of-network but you may be able to utilize your out-of-network benefits to pay for sessions.
I accept credit, debit, health savings account (HSA) and flexible spending account (FSA) payments. I’ll ask to have a card on file to make ongoing payments easier and payments will be due at time of service.
We can’t plan for everything and sometimes emergencies happen. Therapy is a commitment and I hope you’re able to prioritize our work together. I ask you to provide a minimum of 48-hour notice when you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Late cancellations or missed appointments without 48-hour notice will result in the full session fee.
